Rippers for smaller horse power graders have scarifier shank boxes mounted through the beam and ripper boxes mounted on the rear.
For added strength, rippers for larger horse power graders have been designed with a wider section ripper beam. This means that both scarifier and ripper shank boxes are an integral part of the beam. This allows for scarifier boxes to be arranged in a "W" pattern, greatly increasing trash clearance capabilities.
